               Born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi, India, Virat Kohli is a prominent and successful cricketer of the present era. He made his first-class debut for India against Sri Lanka in August 2008. He made his Test debut against the West Indies in June 2011. Kohli is primarily known for his batting ability, especially in the ODI format. He has broken many records during his career, such as being the fastest batsman to score 8000, 9000, 10000, and 11000 runs in ODIs. 

           He is well-known for his aggressive batting style, impeccable consistency, and incredible fitness. In 2013, he was named as the Vice-Captain of the Indian Cricket Team in ODIs and later in 2014, he became the Vice-Captain in Test cricket. In 2014, he took over the captaincy of the team in all formats of cricket from MS Dhoni and in 2017, Kohli became the captain of the team in ODIs and Tests.

           Under Kohli’s leadership, India achieved a number of successes, including Test series victories over Australia and England and reaching the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017. In 2021, Kohli stepped down as India captain after the team lost to Australia in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.
